Yet another awesome summer opportunity for MHS Students! This one is through Sealaska Heritage Institute (SHI): -Latseen Northwest Coast Arts Academy -Opening The Box: HS STEAM Academy The Haa Latseen Initiative (HLI) grant has funding specifically for these two academies for our partner districts, like AISD, giving AISD students priority. The application period is open! The NWC Arts Academy deadline is May 13 and the HS STEAM Academy deadline is May 27. Attention AISD Families: Starting Monday 4/11, we will begin implementing the revised Covid Safety and Mitigation Plan! We are dialing back some of our strategies as our vaccination rate is high and our cases are low. These changes include: 1. There will be no temperature screenings for staff and students (if you or students are sick, please stay home.) 2. Staff will not be required to be screened for Covid-19 symptoms and sign in each day 3. We will not be logging names for students who ride the bus 4. Outside groups will be able to use District's facilities following District's guidelines and permission 5. Test-to-Stay will allow students and staff who are not fully vaccinated and who have been in close contact at school, to test daily and avoid quarantine. This does not include close contact within the same household. Senior Highlight: Allison Booth! "My favorite part of high school was a trip to Spokane for a basketball tournament, and getting to see Gonzaga in person. Also when I was able to go to a basketball camp at Gonzaga, and getting to stay in the dorms. If I could go back in time, I wish that I played basketball my junior year. I am going to attend Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO. I want to get an associate's degree and plan on going into dental hygiene. I would like to thank my sister Amber for pushing me to do well. I would also like to thank my dad Marty for always believing in me and making me do my best. I want to thank my mom for loving me unconditionally. I also want to thank Chelsea Martinez for helping me along the way, and pushing me to do things outside of my comfort zone." Flyer: We’re excited to welcome you to in-person Parent-Teacher Conferences! Here are a couple of things you can expect to keep you safe during your visit: Elementary School: -Pre-K enters through PreK4 door -K-2nd grade enter through Door 3 -3rd-5th grade enter through Door 2 Middle and High School enter through Main Door Entrance Everyone is required to wear masks in the building-We’ll have spare masks at the main entrance if you need them. If you are on MIC or AISU’s Quarantine list, have active Covid-19 or are sick, please reschedule your conference for another time. Come at your assigned time. We’re trying to limit the number of people in the building to maintain social distancing and keep wait times to a minimum. There are hand sanitizing stations throughout the building and our custodial staff work hard to make sure our buildings are clean and sanitized. Thank you for your cooperation! We look forward to seeing you!

Senior Highlight- Micheal Bethel "Micheal would like to thank Mr. Fulton and Ms. Pike for running the DDF team, the team for encouraging her to join, her family, and her boss Kristi Lord. I will be attending UAS in Juneau for a degree in art education. I am also hoping to apprentice with High-Tide Tattoo in Juneau. If I could do high school all over I wouldn't have quit volleyball when she was a freshman. She wishes that she would have done a full season of volleyball each year of her high school career."
